Guangzhou Honda to Build a new R&D Center in China

Guangzhou Honda, Honda's automobile production and sales joint venture in China, announced yesterday that they will be building a new R&D center in Guangzhou, forming a wholly owned subisidiary in the process (Guangzhou Research & Development Co., Ltd.). The facility will feature a full high speed test course and will be instrumental in the development of a new automobile product which is targeted to go on sale by 2010. This new vehicle will be marketed under an original brand of Guangzhou Honda. Honda claims that this will be the "first time a joint venture company of a foreign automaker will develop and market a product under an original brand of the joint venture company in China."
