Today has not gone as planned. We had intended to come in bright and early to take as many photos and video as possible of the various cars and products on site (we're leaving this afternoon).
When we came in, we stopped by Project Si to drop off some bags and we couldn't get the trunk open. The trunk popper was working, but it wouldn't unlatch. After about 2 hours (and killing the battery), we managed to break into the trunk with some help from Honda's booth organizer (who had some tools). We won't say how, but it could have been even easier if we hadn't screwed up the breakin process (we're not good thieves apparently). Turns out one of the boxes we put in the trunk knocked the latch cable off its attachment point. As the popper actually pulls on the cable an inch from the latch, it was also rendered useless. It wasn't Honda's fault, we took a short cut routing the cable on our Seibon trunklid. Suffice it to say, we re-routed it properly...
We also need to thank Eric Aguilera of Braman Honda in Miami, FL for sending us a black license plate surround. It looks really nice against the carbon fiber.
Last night, we went to the Honda VIP party at the Hilton, and had a blast as usual. We spent time talking to lots of industry people and a lot of racers. Pierre Kleinubing was there (we're working on having him drive Project Si), as were P.D. Cunnigham and Michael Andretti. SEMA is actually crawling with motorsports people. We also spotted Emerson Fittipaldi and Kim Green (of Andretti-Green Racing) wandering around the show. Rumor has it Bono from U2 also made an appearance (last year it was Snoop Dogg).
We did get a few pictures of some lovely SEMA ladies yesterday, so we'll try and give you a peek at a few of them too.
We'll do our best to get a few more photos before we leave, but time is tight.
