Honda’s multi-award winning small car, the Jazz, with its clever packaging,
‘Magic’ seats and some of the most fuel efficient petrol engines on the market,
now benefits from a series of enhancements both inside and out. Fresh exterior
styling, more advanced and stylish instrumentation and the availability of more
features are among the changes.
The styling changes are aimed at providing a more quality, dynamic and solid
look. A renewed headlight design has an inner surface of the light cluster that
can be black, silver or body coloured depending on grade. On upper grades, LED
indicators are incorporated into the side mirrors continuing the Honda “family”
feel to the exterior design.
The interior changes include, a new trim for the seats, a new sporty steering
wheel, steering wheel mounted paddles in place of buttons for the CVT version,
fully automatic air conditioning on upper grades, a new design of the fascia and
self illuminating dials already found on other Honda models.
All Jazz models now have rear disc brakes. Also, on 1.4 litre manual
transmission versions, there is an option of Honda’s 4-channel VSA (Vehicle
Stability Assist) system.
One of Honda’s prime objectives in designing the Jazz was best-in-class levels
of safety. And in Phase 14 of the Euro NCAP crash test results announced during
summer 2004, those efforts were endorsed with the first 3 star pedestrian safety
rating for the supermini class under the newer and much tougher testing protocol.
With 4 star occupant protection, 3 star pedestrian protection and a 3 star child
seat rating, the Jazz has the best overall performance for combined safety in
the class to date.
Sales of the revised Jazz models commence in October.
