| These disguised prototypes show some differences from Honda’s recently discovered trademark images depicting a new minivan design. The prototypes photographed here appear to show the sliding door track tucked into the bottom of the rear-side window, while the trademark images show the door track embedded lower into the van’s bodywork—on the same level as the door handles. The trademark images also lack the side marker light clearly visible on the on the front bumper portion of the frontal wheel well. The trademark images lack the prototypes “shark fin” antenna. Finally, the rather slit-like headlights appear different from the larger headlights that appear to be under the prototype’s camouflage.
Although it’s not completely clear thanks to the distance and the camouflage, it looks like the new Odyssey will do away with the “lightning bolt” side-window-treatment, as the prototype’s waistline looks more consistent and the door track has been moved upward for what might be a cleaner, sleeker look compared to today’s van.
As before, the next Odyssey will be based on the Honda Pilot, which was recently overhauled with a revised platform and more streamlined styling.
We expect the Odyssey to debut sometime next year--at the 2016 LA Auto Show—or perhaps at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
