For weeks, there have been rumors that Honda will call the Fit-based crossover (due to be launched in the US late this year) the 'HR-V'. Now we are hearing reports that Honda showed this vehicle to North American dealers at a recent meeting and it was in fact introduced as the 'HR-V'. The 'HR-V' name has some history with Honda, though the small ute was never previously offered in the US, the name leverages the strong brand image of Honda's top-selling crossover, the CR-V.

2nd generation HR-V (discontinued in 2006)

The Japanese-market version of this vehicle went on sale this past November, badged as the 'Vezel'. It's been our assumption that this 'Vezel' name wouldn't be used in the US lineup, and it appears that this is the case.
