More shots at Autoblog by the way.
To help out people who seem can't see....
FRONT
Crease/bulge at the bumper. Of course the dreaded grill.
REAR
Crease/bulge at the bumper. Number plate area is higher. Thinner trunk-lid chrome chevron bar??
Also notice the wires coming out from exhaust area. Does this indicate changes in power train, suspension, engine? Just speculating...

Also on the rear it looks like they got rid of the diagonal feature lines coming down from the inside of each reflector. Is that what you were circling? Either way, thank goodness.
Less is more, Acura. Go look at an Audi.
I hadn't noticed the instrumentation in the exhaust before. That coupled with the wiring coming up the a-pillar going to the cabin and to the instrument on the roof tell me there is clearly a new (or significantly revised) engine involved.

Sweet...I am hoping the changes are these plus where all the masking is....change those rear reflectors and the front lower fog light hodgepodge all together - integrate it like Gen 3 for jiminy crickets it works great that way.
Oh and Santa, please bring me a Type-S that will thump those Audis by a wide, indisputable margin.

Twin turbo 3.5 liter for an all new TL Type-S.

The end result is that the nose and tail are less pointed. The pointed nose and tail made the car look long, a bad thing if the overhangs are already large. Should shorten the car visually.
The present lines on the car would have worked, if the platform on which it was based was smaller. When a TL passes you just have to look, so the design worked. The present body would have worked on sub TSX type platform, where the a long body would better served.

The biggest change, to me, is the crease on the bumper under the grill. It helps tuck the nose in a little bit, and it's taking cues from the right place (the mdx)
Compare...

yeh but the grill still extends onto the hood?

The side by side really helps. My concern is that the crease to the front, will make it look like every other Japanese car out there, in particular a Camry. What made this shockingly modern for me was the broad expansive front that dropped away from the lenses, and the grill pushed to the very edge of the bumper. I always thought the Plenum was oversized (but I liked it), and shouldnt have gone into the hood, but Im afraid from these pics they went the other way instead. The current TL always made me look, the way other cars didnt. I hope it doesnt lose that in the revision.

I know what you are saying. I like the very smooth crease free front bumper on the current TL. And yes, it get's your attention in traffic. All it really needs is a better integrated, smaller grill, and clean up the fog lights.

The front and the rear will look much better with the redesign. Overall much more understated and european. I like it.

It's easy to forget the grill will still be shiny metal/plastic.
I would love to see a color-matched grill with a chrome or aluminum-look bottom edge, and maybe even a chome lip on the inner horizontal vents.

Spearsoft, I think your photo mod is pretty much what it will look like. Looking at the creases on the tape of the original, it appears that there will be about a half or three quarters of an inch less height to the silver plenum than you pictured, with the body colored frame making a downward creased turn to meet the top of the silver part.
It appears that Acura will keep center main piece shape of the plenum, but tone it down quite a bit, and cut back or eliminate the bright frame.

Yeah that actually looks pretty good. I was gonna take a stab at a photochop but I guess you beat me to it.
what's up with the acura emblem though lol?

LOL, I was too lazy to cut one from another picture and paste it on to my chop, so I made a quick one.

I think Acura should abandon their corporate logo and buy yours for 100 million dollars.

Nope! Sorry I still dont believe it. It looks like they taped off various sections. The camera angles, the rough paint, and lighting are visually confusing. Save for the tsx lines in the grill..... This looks to me like the same car. They shouldn't have even bothered covering it up. & if this is the new model, then they should not have even wasted there time trying to save this ugly duckling. Im waiting to see what the next generation (full out redesign) will look like. If it still looks like shyt and the TSX doesnt have a V6 with a 6spd manual by then, im shopping another brand. This plenum grill has got to go.
The should have the guy that approved these new designs looking for a new profession!

Who are you kidding? You've been saying the same thing for years now. After all this time of "shopping other brands" one would think you would've found something by now.

It's great to know a have a fan/following in you spearsoft! Can't be that long that I've been saying that, the TL has only been out for 2-3 years. But for the record I still mean it. I havent done it because, my TSX still works! How often you you buy cars?
& what are you so pissed about?.... the fact that I dont like your little photo chop...get over it!
