The 2012 Si spied is a coupe, and all of the spied Civics in North America are 2/4 doors. I am taking that to mean there will be no 3/5 door Civics for North America. Anyone disagree? There is always the chance that the sub TSX will be a Euro Civic, just like the TSX is a Euro Accord. Any idea when the sub-TSX will be announced? Really that is just returning the Integra/RSX.

I will give a conservative 0% chance of a Civic hatch here, but I could be wrong, as they have released several hatches in the past.

I think the chances of a hatch are pretty good [based on nothing other than speculation] from the pics we've seen. It might also make sense financially, allowing Honda to share more components across global markets that would get a hatch by default. So IF it is a hatch then the only question is, "how hot it will be?"

I don't see the point of a Civic hatch with the Fit around. Is it a performance issue?... Styling issue?...Can't be a utility issue because the Fit is as utilitarian as they come. They love hatches in Europe so it makes sense that they'd have a hatch Civic as well as the Fit in that market....
Here in the US, not so much.

Although I like the Fit a lot and it's a great car I see it more as a wagon since it has 4 doors.
I prefer a 3 door hatch.

You probably aren't, as Honda needs to make the hybrid Civic look different than the rest of the pack if they want to draw attention to it.

Correct me if I missed something, but he said "Hot"... not "green" Hatch Civic :) :) :)
(not that I couldn't consider a hybrid to be "hot", but he is hoping for an Si, not for a 120-150Hp hybrid).

Hot can mean a lot of things...
Overall I just like the style of a 3 door hatch to a 5 door hatch wich to me is a wagon. I don't need the extra 2 doors.
I'd definitely consider a hybrid but only if it's fun to drive...Otherwise give me an Si hatch. I believe Fords new ST Focus is going to have 250hp. I really hope Honda can trump that somehow.

My next car would be a C-segment hatch. The extra flexibility would be great on a Civic and put Honda back in my sights.

Not only that, but the torsion bar configuration in the Euro Civic is really the only setup that will allow enough space for the IMA battery and control unit without blocking the rear cargo area.
I'm thinking much better chance than not that we WILL get a hatch. It's not going to be very hot, but it'll probably get really good MPG :-D

Chances are no one will ever see a Honda hot hatch in the nearest future, not even Europe. At least, not in the real sens of "hot". Supposedly-sporty-hybrid-hot-hatch-look-alike, maybe.
I don't know why people keep bringing this up, it's very clear and Honda stated it many times: out with the sports, in with the green. Period. And no, tuning up suspension and handling so that "sporty feelings" reach out from the car doesn't make it a "sports car" and not even a hot hatch. It's like an old American saying: "Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken."

I will predict.................no..............no Si hatch or Civic hatch in any form but a Hybrid id they go that route. It is a shame, an AWD Civic wagon/hatch would sell like worms in a freshly stocked Bass Lake (where do I come up with these stupid comparisons? LOL) here in Cleveland, but that's just one small place in the nation, but look at Subaru...............

what they really need is the electric motor powering the rear wheels - so then you have hybrid and get you going 4wd without the extra expense....one day, you'll see.....

What a shame. Seeing the spyshots of the 3dr Fiesta ST makes me miss my old si hatchback even more. I would even buy a used one again if I could find one stock and with no rust. Even a Fit with 2 less doors would be ok. It's weird that Honda abandoned "hot" hatckbacks in NA but it seems more and more companies are coming out with them?

I wouldn't even care if it wasn't a hot hatch, as long as we got a hatch. Even if it had the same 1.8 (which I like) as long as it had great steering, suspension, ride and handling (more so than the 8th).
All my cars have been slow, but I do enjoy driving them fast. I often take the back roads to work and love the curves and scenery. The limits are fairly low, 40~45 at the most in curve, but it would be nice if things were a little more buttoned down, more communicative.

Let see...
Mazda has Hatch
2012 Focus line-up has Hatch
Corolla's brother is hatch (Matrix)
Cruze has hatch (maybe coming to NA)
Caliper is a hatch
A3 is another hatch
Forte has hatch (coming soon)
Honda should bring hatchback (EK, EG like hatch)

Toyota sells twice as many Matrixes as Honda sells civic coupes. Crosstour V6s outsell accord V6 sedans. Both are hatches. Get the picture.....(Honda?). (In Canada, anyway).

I believe I've just seen pictures disproving the hatchback theory. :/
Which would be another missed opportunity by Honda, then.

Did it look like they made an effort to differentiate the design of the hybrid model?

Here in the USA,
Toyota sold 29,020 Matrix last year. Over 20% of those were to fleet.
So Honda only sold 14,510 OR LESS Civic Coupes?

It appears to be the same-old sedan with same-old flat aerodynamic wheels. I'd link, except I don't know if Jeff is planning on purchasing pics for TOV. Probably not worth him doing so.
