Can anyone tell me the difference in this tire verses the non Green X in the 215/45-17 MXM4, other than it has lower rolling resistance and lower cost. Has anyone driven on this tire and is it any better than stock? Just wondering, I need new shoes and I am considering this tire or the Yok's S-Drive. The Mich's lasted me 50k miles but was very noisey during mid life. I had no issues in the rain and were very smooth.

The three tires discussed here are TOTALLY different tires. In particular, the S-Drive is a UHP Summer Tire, while the other two are all season tires, the MXM4 a Grand Touring Tire, and the Hydroedge Green X is a Passenger Car tire.
Just the tread wear ratings alone might tell you something, the Yokos are 300 UTQG while the Green X is 600-800 UTQG. In fact, I don't even see a 215/45-17 size listed in this tire line...so I guess I must be looking at the wrong Green X.
But the point is you are talking apples, oranges and grapes, and I guess you need to decide what you want. Regardless, make sure you select a V-rated tire, because that was the OEM design criteria
I apologize for not realizing Green X is slowly proliferating throughout various tire lines tire by tire.
As for the Green X vs non Green X Pilot HX MXM4, I don't know, but is Green is certainly newer, though not necessarily better, I guess I would have to wait to see if people discern differences. But to avoid the question altogether, and move to the original question
Do you want to go with an all season or a high performance summer tire?
If an all season, I would consider the Pilot Sport A/S Plus...no green x, but I have read good things about this one, and the original Pilot Sport A/S were far superior in just about every way to the Pilot HX MXM4.
Thanks for your input. What is strange is Tirerack has both MXM4's but the Green X is a lot less money. Mich maybe running a promotion on the Green X. Anyway I will most likely go with the Yoko's.
