OK, I drive 30k a year and the past 4 years I haven't got ONE ticket, NOT ONE! for speeding. My first two One in Sep for going 10 miles over, and last month for 9 miles over.................In Ohio it's almost impossible to win in the smaller cities. I have won in Cleveland at least 3 times, 2 were a solid case of me speeding, but one was a stop sign run and I really didn't run that, I took pics, showed how it was obstructed and all that.........I won.
POINT, I bought a Radar detector. Nothing special, I could have spent $2,000 bucks and got one that jams their signel and all, but I can't afford that. I bought a Cobra XRS 9445, I had it for a week, it picked up everything in Ohio and local, I was pleased. THEN on my way back from Pittsburgh yesterday I was on Cruse at 74mph, this fool just kept pacing me and pacing me and I hate that, I kept trying to get behind him and he would slow down, I would get in front of him and he would inch up and block me if I had to pass someone in the center lane.......You know the kind........
So I just went about 80mph to get ahead of him enough so I can put it back on cruse and stay at 74, well at that time BAM! there was the cop, I was like WOW! he didn't get me, my detector didn't go off.................well he got me, He followed me for 2 miles like those @#$%$'s do and hit the lights, I had already taken my detector off the shield so he had no idea.
I asked him what kind of radar he was using and he said a ......................KR-10.................. It was the one mounted OUT SIDE the car. Does anyone know (I tried to look this up and came up with nothing) if they JAM RADAR DETECTORS? because when I got back in Ohio it worked like a charm, but I encountered one more PA State boy and it didn't go off, I wasn't speeding, but I am thinking they send a jamming signal??????? Anyone know of such technology?

Before the California Highway Patrol was given radar & laser they were only allowed to pace you. By pacing what I mean is following the vehicle in question with their vehicle. All CHP vehicles had calibrated speedometers... Maybe this is how they got you...
If your detector DID NOT go off, then either it is defective or the cop did not use it. I have a Valentine 1 radar detector and it has saved my ass so many times. I bought it when I first purchased my S2000 and NEVER got a speeding ticket...(knocking on wood).
Now the revenue gods of Califuckia have gotten the green light for speed cameras to be set up anywhere they deem necessary, in other words "mobile areas that speed is a problem", then move them to another spot, etc.... I can hardly wait, just hope that the signal is K1 band so that the V1 picks it up...if laser then everyone is screwed.

No, he was on the side of the road, I passed him and he shot out once I passed him. Someone at the rest stop who saw me pulled over said they have "Radar Detector Jamming"??? That THEIR Radar sends out a light signal that confuses radar detectors??? I tried to find it on line, but got nothing.
The points don't count in Ohio, so I am going to pay the $161 bucks and move on. I was speeding, but Today coming to work I got ZAPPED twice and the detector worked fine, one was a POP radar and the other was a K1. We have the portable cameras here and it even picks those up. I think PA has some device that jams radar detectors.
The speed cameras here use radar. There are several known areas where cops lay in waiting and are supposed to be stricter, but so far my V1 has not gone off. Maybe I was lucky and the camera boxes were empty on those days, or maybe there is something wrong with my V1? I have detected X, Ka, and Ku band radar from cameras in other locations though. However, since the cameras are forward facing (and catch your rear plate), how early you detect it kind of depends. I have never been radared or lasered by a police roadblock since I got my V1 so haven't been able to test it on that yet. So far I seem to have gotten way more false alarms than actual warnings.
I have never detected POP- could this be a setting issue on my V1? My friend has a cheaper brand radar detector (might be a Cobra) and it detects POP whenever he passes a police vehicle... How does the V1 display POP? I don't think Lexus glass has metal particals embedded for insulation so I don't think that is the issue...

My "POP" can be turned on and off by holding down buttons. It works all the time. The cop that pulled me over 3 weeks ago sat there and talked to me for like 10 min telling me that every police department has been instructed to increase revenue. That ticket collection is a MUST. I asked him "Do you hate this kind of Police work?" He said "absolutely".
He became a cop to investigate and stop crime, not be a tax collector, he was angry, but he still gave me the ticket because he has a number to meet, it's sick and the States are doing the same thing. In PA yesterday, there were at least 4 other cars the same speed as me, I was just first so the cop said. I have to believe there is a jamming device on their radar gun.
In PA, only the state police can use radar and there is no LIDAR. OH uses LIDAR (laser) as much as anything. I suggest not cheaping out and getting a Valentine.
I should also note that a detector is nothing more than a glorified radio and that to jam one, you would need to produce harmful indiscriminate interference that could affect other types of devices as well, and the FCC won't be going for that. Hence, radar detectors can't be jammed. They can be detected, at least in areas where they are illegal (i.e., Virginia).

Two thoughts here, Honda AFVM.
Get a V-1 and pace yourself with other traffic.
Yeah just don't speed because the government would of not just made the speed limit some abitrary number. Oh, wait that is how the speed limits are set....
I guess it must be to keep us safe..... Wait there are more miles being driven and highway accidents are not going up.
Yeah, pacing yourself with traffic helps tremendously. Bottom line: Don't stick out like a sore thumb. Don't be the leader of the pack and don't be the last one in the pack. You'll get picked off either way. If you're speeding and there aren't any other cars remotely near you, you're just begging for a speeding ticket. Find yourself a 'rabbit car' when possible. Relying too heavily on the radar detector can be a detriment, IMO. Better to adjust your driving habits.
(1) It's likely a laser unit, not a radar unit. Radio jammers are illegal and any device that would "jam" your radio detector would be also be jamming their radio "detector".
(2) Move West. In California, if you keep it at 80 or below, it's unlikely you'll get pulled over. Pulled over for 10 over? Jeez, that would be like 99.99% of all cars on any freeway West of Texas.
(3) Yep, I hate it when you get those clowns pace you. So, I smoke cigars, see? If they pace me long enough they'll eventually get a wiff of the stoogie. Best thing to do, if they are behind you, is to ignore them and keep at your speed. I know it's hard, but why risk a ticket on account of some idiot that has not clue as to how to drive without a pacing aid? next time get on the center lane and ignore them. Eventually they'll get a clue, and if not, well, you're not paying attention to them.

Don't speed - no ticket. You want to go fast - autocross on the weekends.
I picked up the first 2 speeding tickets of my life this year, both within 2 months of each other.
I was speeding both times, 71 and 72 in a 55 (which becomes 70 on the same stretch). I didn't argue or whine, or fight the ticket. I pulled over, treated the officer with respect, and each ticket was reduced to 10 over.
Since I've driven nearly every day for the last 18 years, I think the 2 tickets, if divided out to equate to pennies on the mile, would have me well in the lead in this race.

DCR.............
I don't think I am whining, I am asking a question if police can jam your detector. I went 4 years w/o a ticket and got 3 in 7 weeks. My point is they are now "Revenue" collectors as one officer so kindly shared with me as he was writing me the ticket. I am not going to fight a ticket at 82 in a 65, I was speeding, no doubt. I am just wondering about the radars they use.
My job depends on my points on my Lic and I don't consider 10moh or less on ANY road speeding nor do most cops, but the officer that pulled me over said it has been reduced to 5mph now, so if you are doing 40 in a 35m you are getting a ticket, 12 months ago that was unheard of.
My 10 mph ticket was going from a 35 to a 25 back to a 35 and there was no school, church, business, nothing. It's a mile stretch that everyone forgets about until you get a ticket. The police sit in front of our dealership, sap people ALL DAY LONG, it's about MONEY and to me that is not "To protect and serve" I will GLADLY pay for my wrong doing like the ticket I got, but don't tell me I am speeding when I am doing 8 mph or 10 mph over the limit, that's an error. I already know your answer, the posted is 25 so do it, I know, but sometimes you just miss it. 82 in a 65, I was WELL aware of my crime!
Like others said, I don't think there is a way to jam a detector. The jamming device would have to send out strong signals, which could probably be easily detected.
It would be like trying to "jam" a passive sonar array with sound. Make noise and you're detected.
Traffic tickets are a well known scam. Luckily the cops around my area generally don't stop people unless they are obviously going much faster than the flow of traffic.

The government taxes a certain percentage of your income based on an arbitrary number. Do you not pay your income taxes based on your reasoning?
I think most of us here speed on occasion, but we accept the fact that we're breaking the law--and if we're caught, a speeding ticket is in order.
