Here in the blog-o-sphere, it's fun to sound off, but the complaining about Honda launching such a potent sports car is getting a bit much. We should be relishing the endeavor, not bemoaning it.
How many who are currently complaining own an S2000, NSX, or Mugen Civic Si? If you don't, you're probably not going to buy this either because you obviously aren't in the market for this high end effort from Honda.
You should be glad they are attempting to make it - and not just sell transportation appliances like Toyota or Hyundai. Where's the love?

Very good points. I think no one is mad Honda is trying to make this car, its the fact that some think this is going to carry the torch for the NSX, which people love with a passion. Personally, I don't think this car is worthy of carrying that moniker, but I also don't think that this is the NSX successor either.
PS don't forget about the Hyundai's Genesis platform

As a matter of fact I do...and I've been waiting for something to upgrade to that justifies the cash. Bumping up to an NSX from a modified / tuned S2000 that is paid for doesn't justify the additional $30k out of pocket.
Now, you show me a 60k'ish Acura that has a V8 / V10 powerplant and resembles this car....I'm interested. (Targa top required)
NSX is not about building something for the market - it's about showing the market what they could have done, and will spend the following 5 years pursuing.

Your mentatlity is skewed, Honda should kiss OUR ass not the other way around. Its not like Honda is giving these cars away we have to pay good money for them so please cut out that holier than thou art attitude about Honda "giving" us anything. Last time i checked i did have to cut a check for 30k for my AP2.
If it werent for the die hard Honda fans there wouldnt even be a vtec.net for you to worship from. We have every right to criticize them when they come out with lame duck products and they deserve every praise when the hit a home run.

You realize Honda makes cash on selling Accords, Fits and Civics - Racing R&D and NSX type projects are in the "expense" column.
Point taken but -
We should be appreciative that our favorite quality manufacturer continues to invest money in offerings to meet our adrenaline needs. The monetary gain in these niche market cars for Honda is minimal, if existent.
On that note - Cheers to Rubens today driving the tires off the inferior Honda chassis to a podium finish at Silverstone in horrible track conditions!

The "complaining" only comes from a few regulars, as well as people who seem to come in here, troll, and then leave for n number of years before something else happens.
That being said, while Honda hasn't been doing badly, there is *always* something that they can do better. Whether it's making a better vehicle or winning a race in a championship, there is always room for improvement, and a lot of posters simply point them out.

Actually there was an old article in which the former CEO stated that Honda is so bloody efficient that even small production cars such as NSX and S2000 are profitable.

Profitable perhaps - but when you sell 200 of something a year compared to 200 of something a day and maintain a similar margin.....
Where should you be spending those dollars at?

I've noticed a lot of complaining on almost every news item posted lately. It's as if the old salts at the TOV have become such "fans" of Honda that they think the brand belongs to them, and anything outside of what they think Honda should do is lambasted. TOV has always had its fair share of trolls, and being a web site, always will, but those are easy to pick out and skip past. But when regulars start nitpicking about every single thing, I think it's unfair for them to call themselves fans.
The TSX doesn't have a V6 or AWD or RWD and it's boring. Which to me means that Honda stayed true to the essence of the TSX.
The TL looks ugly, isn't powerful enough, no information on a MT, is more of the same. Again, which means to me that Honda is staying true to the essence of the TL, but moving the game on a bit.
Now the new NSX replacement is too small, will be too expensive, and looks ugly. Guess what, guys? The original NSX wasn't powerful enough, was too expensive, and was a "pretend" supercar. That's what the haters said. But those of us who were true fans, and even those in the media, knew what all the fuss was about, and loved that car until the day they canceled it.
So mark my words: the next NSX/whatever they call it will be an absolutely striking, brilliant car at almost any price. It will compete with the Audi R8, which has taken the original NSX's spot in the "pretend" supercar club for all the haters. And it's stunning, brilliant to drive, and sold out for months.

When the NSX made its debut it was not underpowered. However 5 years down the road it was compared to the competition. When you pay 70+ thousand for a car you expect it to at least perform like one in all aspects.

I think the problem is, a lot of the complaining is very retarded;
one can make the same criticism either constructively, or in a way that isn't worth bothering to read.

It's fortunate to the automotive world in general that companies such as Honda continually raise the bar in performance in value with innovative vehicles such as the CRX, Type R Program, NSX, and S2000. It keeps the competition honest - or at least more honest. It also motivated other manufacturers to invest dollars in these areas, which is why you have a plethora of sport compact and sport touring coupes and sedans to choose from now. This was not the case 20 years ago, or even 10 for that matter.
