There are quite a few DIY's out there so this is just a few things for the 06 Si that I found different.
1. Not sure on other Civics but on the 06 Si you will need to shave down all the ridges on the start button. Make sure you get right up to the back of the rim.
2. I installed my start button where the hazards were and then moved the hazards over to the left just above the "fents" I had to cut a new hole for the hazards and they fit with a little trimming of the back of the panel. And you have to install them upside down. I did try to remove the button and flip it but was in able to.
3. To install the Hazards and the button so they would stay in place I used a PVC glue, same kind you would use for PCV pipe. It has a longer cure time but hold very well. There is really no place to screw the buttons back to when you are done.
4. I know I could of left the hazards where they were at but I really felt that the start button needed to be there.
5. On the 2006 Si the Power wife for the ignition is WHITE. The Starter power wire is YELLOW NOT BLACK as in years before. You can see in the pictures the wire I am pointing to is in fact yellow and the other wire in front of it is actually Orange.
6. There is very little room to tap into the wires so I stripped a short section of wire and sodered (sp) them together and then wrapped them in several layers of tape.
7. I ran the ground wire to a screw in the center consul. It was the most convenient place to get to.
you know that looks really great, and i almost rather like the upside down hazard button, unique i suppose. Still i would have perfered a picture step by step, i still have no idea how to do the wiring. I know a lot of these guides say see this one to take apart your dash, see this one to wire, but I'd like it if somone would post a good solid DIY with a picture of every step, or maybe even a good 5 minute well edited video.
oh yeah do you really have to wait that long? or can you just twist and press? Because I know a lot of people complain about the extra time it takes but i always think they're just being over dramatic.
Shuuuu the button is straight... you are seeing things....
No its a little off, the button was/is slights out of round and had a hard time just getting it to lay flush, if I twisted it just that little bit would stand out about another 1/16" so I went with a slightly crooked button as opposed to one that sticks out to far.
I didn't really get many pictures as I was going. But I would be more than happy to help you with any of your questions on the wiring.
If you use a genuine Honda button you do not need a relay or any thing else.
I soddered 3 wires (1 power white wire, 1 to the ignition wire Yellow and then ran a ground to the body.
No you dont have to wait at all, soon as the key is on you can press the button. I was just going slower so it would show up in the video.
Sorry about how how few pictures there are I have a really hard time stopping what I am doing and taking pictures of it. Once I get going I don't like to stop.
What kind of wire did use to tap into the ignition from the starter button?
You mentioned you tapped into the white and yellow wires from the ignition. From that point where do those wires connect to?..ie) back of the starter button.
And is the ground wire from the starter to the console. Is the ground a black wire?

Sorry about all the questions.
Thanks in advance ..and nice install.
No problem
I used 16 gauge strand wire. You can get it at any harwear store or automotive store. You could use 18 gauge if you wanted or 14 gauge, Just any thing around that size.
I only had 2 colors wire, white and green. So I used the green ad the ground, pretty much standard, and then ran a white for the main power, and a a white (made a black stripe on it with a sharpie) for the starter wire.
From the ignition you go back to the start button.
There are 5 prongs on the back of the start button. Looking at the back of the button on the right side prong attach the wire that will go to the starter wire. The next one over you attach the main power wire (always hot) and then the third prong is for the ground.
The ground wire that runs from the start button to a location you select to ground it. Any where that is metal that attaches to the body of the car.
pretty much you have to remove starting under the driver side, then work your way up to the center panel. There 1 one screw on the drives side to remove and then every thing pretty much pops off, The steering wheel trim had 3 screws in the bottom. Other than that every thing pulls off. The VERY first peice that you remove have a nob to turn but when you are looking at if it is pretty much self explanatory. the one screw is on the left side, right under the mirror adjustment buttons, but you remove 2 panels before you get to that screw.... its a click together car.
To each its own... it seems to me that if you have to turn the key all the way, you might as well go ahead and start the car instead of reaching for a button. You just made a one step process into a two step process. If Jason from Friday the 13th was following you, it would take you longer to start the car than if you just had to use the key, but, I have to agree that it looks cool as hell.

I think we all know that the car wouldn't start period. Horror movie rules, dude.
I was going off what I read on another DIY for the starter button install. I am wondering why you would you would need to put a fuse in line? There is no difference between pushing the button and turning the key, it runs the power though the same path.
I don't have the tool to get the amp rating, I just have one that tells you if its hot or not.
i could check the amperage through the button when i put mine in, but i gotta look into another little idea i had to set up the button where i want it.

Nah, S2 is like that. Hold down clutch and push the button. Its fine you get used to it. Then you will never turn a key again.
