I had an extra 360lbs extra of passenger weight added to my Si last night, 160lbs of passenger in the front and the rest on the backseat, I raced a ford Fusion and it beat me by a car and 1/2 length. Is this acceptable? I mean, I felt it was sort of embarrasing.. would this added weight affect the cars 0-60 this much?
I know, before the weight, I couldn't dare to look down at my rpm increasing while im in first ger at WOT! but with the weight, I could actually take my time and watch how SLOWLY the revs would increase on first gear, It felt as though I was starting the car from 2nd gear. thats how bad it was!!!
BTW - I thought you SWORE that you didn't race much.
I seem to recall reading somewhere (I can't find a link) that there's a general rule that "100 pounds = 1/10 second in the quarter mile". Soooo...add 100 pounds, drop a tenth.
I used to have a Ford Taurus SHO - it had a 220HP Yamaha V6 and a 5 speed trans. It made all its HP up high in the RPM range. I remember, once, going down the highway at 55 MPH, with myself driving, and three passengers. I wanted to pass a car, and needed to downshift to THIRD before I got enough power to make the pass.
pizza delivery used to be my job 3 years ago, now im a general manager, just to get you informed a bit better here.
I don't race much, I have probably raced 3 times ever since I got the car or something.
I know about the weight, DAMN!!! I felt that crap, and when the dudes got off the car it felt as though I was driving with my handbrake on before and afterwards with the handbrake off..

You're right; that is completely unacceptable. Sell what's left of your Si immediately and buy an old Mustang or Camaro, since either could acceptably dominate a Ford Fusion in a drag race...not that you race much.
If you are going to be a street racer, at least be less of a stereotypical Fast and Furious-ite and stop racing Grandma Eleanor in her 16 second 1/4 car at every stoplight.
Seriously though, if you did lose by that much against a Fusion, you don't know how to drive worth a shit. You are starting to make me regret my Si purchase, because there is some guilt by association going here.
I know you learned how to drive fast because your boss would get mad if you didn't beat the "15 minutes or it's free" clock, but don't you think it's time to grow up a little?

Oooo....owww....must find a glass of Hateraide for DCR before he gets served by Garoto...in 15 minutes or less.
I Agree that Weight kills these little honda's. I dont have an SI and am starting to hate my self but I went for distance trips I drive for long stretchs at a shot and just wanted to not have to stop all the time so got an LX insteed. 1 Passange KILLS what it dose have off the line I love driving it alone but 2 people and it just stinks. It didnt make a differance in the old Caddy I had but then again at 550lbs of torque whats 300lbs.
I tried a backwoods added weight thing to help me out. Last autox I ran I made sure my gas tank was near full because I couldn't get the car to rotate. Seemed to have helped address the issue. Course, I maybe could've fixed it by just playing with tire pressures, but what fun would that be? Fat lot of good it did me anyway, still got my butt handed to me by a 1400-lb e-production yugo. Beat up on more than one WRX though.
Getting a WRX to rotate is a skill in and of itself lol. I'm not gonna say that I've got kill stories with WRX STi's, but I've snuffed my share of Base WRX in twisties with my '98 SH. I love WI backroads^^
