Autoweek is reporting that Honda has no plans to bring the diesels to the North American market.
What a shame.

Perhaps, but you can't blame them for it. There's no business case for bringing diesels over here. They're production limited at the moment. When they have enough capacity to produce "extra" diesels, they can begin thinking about bringing them into the "diesel-weak" NA market. Until then, they are much better off selling what they can build in the diesel-rich markets elsewhere in the world.

I hope you're wrong. I couldn't find your Honda article, but saw the below article and I would hate to see Honda lose a competitive advantage of setting market entry presence in NA to DaimlerChrysler AG's new 2-liter diesel car.
"The Bionic Car is powered by a 2-liter, four-cylinder, common-rail, turbocharged diesel that makes 140 horsepower. Executives said the fuel economy rating of 70 mpg would be about 30 percent higher than that achieved by a production vehicle. Emissions standards would be met in part with a particulate filter and with DaimlerChrysler's "selective catalytic reduction" system -- the injection of urea solution into exhaust." No Honda diesels
Official word from Honda is there are no plans to bring diesels into the United States. This, despite Honda senior managing director Michiyoshi Hagino’s claim in April that the company would offer diesel cars in the States in the near future (later debunked as a mistranslation), and despite senior vice president John Mendel’s showing of a television commercial about diesels at a recent Automotive News seminar in California. And finally, this despite Honda’s home-market diesel engines having won kudos for being among the most fuel-efficient and silent diesel engines on the market. But they’re not for you, America.

honda sucksssss come on... i know they can make efficient gas and hybrid cars but isnt better to give the honda customers some other option? who knows they can actually grab those jetta TDi owners and grab the title too the most efficient car list. since i know VW diesel is always in the list of most efficient cars.
