I saw a Honda N600 in the parking lot today. I couldn’t believe it here in Portland Oregon and it was so tiny. On the side was a badge ‘Honda 600’ and it was orange like the one 2/3 way down this link. The interior was stripped, but the car looked well taken care of after so many years (at least 32 years?). 599cc parallel twin, 4 stroke motor, 45hp@7000rpm, and 40lb-ft@5000rpm.
Driving home in my huge ’04 Accord sedan had me thinking.
I miss my lightweight Hondas, maybe restoring a ’78 civic 1200 would be fun.
In Corvallis, there is a Honda S600 at University Honda in the showroom. In addition, I've seen several Honda N600's and S600's in the Grants Pass/Medford areas.
Yes... you see them every so often. I've seen them usually in dealerships.. but possibly the best examples that I have seen (two if recall right) were right at AHM's HQ in Torrance.
I do love those little cars.. and if you lived in the NW with really superb two lane roads, reasonable weather and keep them off the Interstate, they are really fun.
Come to think about it... I learnt to drive in the Puget Sound (Kitsap County) In a 76 CVCC....

In traffic the other day, I saw a Honda Logo. It was small-as-a-Mini, cherry red, newish (non-historical). When I saw the "H" emblem and realised, I blurted out to my wife (who likes tiny cars), "THAT'S A HONDA?"
I myself is on the crusade of finding a 1986 Honda City Turbo 2... It's a charged 1300cc damn it, it's just classic... I have fallen in love with the car ever since I watched an anime called "you're under arrest". This two hot police chicks drive a small two door car with an "H" badge on it. And since then I travel around the web searching for the elusive car.
I live in Indonesia sadly... And after finding which model is the car... The closest country I could buy the car is in Australia or New Zealand, the freight cost just too much... But the price according to my friend who live in New Zealand told me the car is NZ$ 300 or Rp 1.8 million or US$ 200!! 200 bucks!!! That's just killing me!!!!! VERY CHEAP for a piece of history itself!
Still searching a way to buy the car... It's just too adorable to miss...

It's strange, but even the latest Civics are bigger than some old Accords.
Sigh..., we have transplanted Brits in west Portland, they are driving around in Ford F-150 4dr SuperCrew Lariat 4WD Styleside 5.5 ft. SB 5.4 liter V8... the gas prices are cheap here at $2.10 per gallon (~$0.55/liter).
The small Hondas does not sell well and I think Honda of America would rather be selling large high profit vehicles dealers are asking them to build.
I really would like for Honda to bring back the 2000~2400 pound sub-compact cars.
They said on the news the other day that high fuel prices, bad economy have not in anyway hurt big car sales. In many other parts of the world, the latest Accord has had trouble selling because it is conceived as too bulky. We're heading back to the big car 1970s. But these days it's SUVs. My first car was a 1977 automatic 5 litre V8 Pontiac Catalina (and oooh, still miss the 3rd->2nd downshift kick for aceleration! Forget VTEC roar!). I think it can fit into the back of the F-150, ha ha...
I saw one for sale where I live. In Miri, East Malaysia. Not sure if it's still for sale or not but would you be interested?
BTW, in the anime 'You're Under Arrest' the car is a Honda Today, not a Logo, and it's smaller than the Logo.
