While this is certainly a significant recall, Honda has estimated that this problem represents a 3% failure rate (as opposed to Daim-Chrysler's 97% rate). Also, please be assured that Honda is actually fixing the problem. Other manufacturers would simply replace the transmission with one with the same problems.
Be happy you purchased a vehicle from a company who actually cares about their customers!

i have few points to make.
1 - if you want to be the best, you do not compair yourself to worst. and if you do, you just step above the worst.
2 - Honda has been replacing faulty transmissions with faulty ones for years. some customers couldn't even get out of dealer parking lot, but majority replaced transmission run for about 10-15K ml before another failure.

I was making a comparison - you, no doubt have statistics from other automotive manufacturers that you would like to share? When you make a comparison - you tend to compare to the worst - in order to make a point. I'm glad my point was made.
While faulty transmissions have been replaced with others that had similar problems - Honda immediately came to the table with a 6yr/160,000 km transmission waranty for all owners of effected vehicles. Mmmmm - is there another manufacturer who stands behind their product as Honda does?

Are you saying if you producing product that statistically better then somebody else you can make quality of your product to go down?
FYI
My car was produced in 98 as 99 model year, I had problems with my transmission and there is no extended warranty from Honda on my car.
How about owners with 97-00 Acura CL 3.0? They have same transmission as accord (as well as problems) and they did not get extended warranty as well as 98-99 AV6.

Sadly, Honda still hasn't bothered to help 98-99 AV6 and 97-99 3.0 CL owners out :( . But if people start giving them a hard time for it then they might do something. I would love to have my 99 AV6 transmission recalled.

Would it be accurate to say that Honda has been making f--k-d up transmissions for sometime now and is currently now owning up to it, hence the reason I too had to have my transmission replaced on my '03 leased TL-S after 15K miles? I have 7 more months left on my lease and am wondering if I should buy another Acura vehicle. This site has been a real education to me regarding Acura / Honda. I have a feeling that I may not return to the Honda fold in 7 months.
