Ford wisely chose not to create a sub-class of Fusions.

Optima - classy
Fusion - nice, kinda generic
Sonata - has a theme and stuck with it, love it or hate, at least it makes sense
Malibu/Camry - safe and conservative
Dead last?
Accord - bizarre, will sell in China, but will it play in Peoria?
...sorry Honda but that front end is silly and not cohesive with the rest of the body...at least the Sonata's silly over-the-top grill goes with the swoopy lines of the rest of the car.

What about this front end that I edited?

Ford makes it look like Aston Martin, stands out as something special.
Optima looks good.
The rest, what's about them?
Honda, why scare away customers like you did with the Acura beak? Stick to what you know, if Chinese want that front, let them have it. Each culture their own. Make it stand out but in a more moderate, classy way that will still look good after all the fads come and go. Maybe a more FCX like front would be better?? Don't make the PHEV look like a monster or truck like. Green people want to make a statement but at least make it appealing.

Camry without a doubt. May not look very sexy, but it has an absolutely solid powerplant. 200 horsepower yields impressive performance and impressive fuel economy. I remember when I used to say those things about Honda...

I think the Camry/Malibu/Fusion way is the right way to go about it. They have subtle changes that let you know they are different without looking like knockoff of their nameplates. The Rav4 EV and Fit EV are also like that.
If a person wants a hybrid they'll look at a Prius. If a person wants a Camry that is also a hybrid. They will probably want it to still look and act like a Camry with all its attributes plus the benefit of a hybrid; and not another model or sub brand.

Sorry but I finally NOTICED a Camry on the road.... Ugh! That thing is uuuugly... it has weird square lines where it ought to have some curves.

I'm from Peoria (really!), and the answer is "No."
What were they thinking? They removed the classy grill on the new Accord and tacked on some ugly.
The fly on the wall tells me it went like this:
"Ito-san says that it's obvious that hybrid buyers like Ugly because Toyota has been successful with Prius the Ugly."
"But our new Accord is both handsome and beautiful, so hybrid buyers will shun it. Oh, what to do, what to do?!!"
"Go, at once, Designer-san, and find some Ugly to make it attractive to hybrid buyers!"
"I know where to find this needed Ugly! It is stored in the sealed box that belonged to the Intern-san we fired after he designed the Crosstour! I shall schlep it immediately! "
And it was thus that Intern-san has his memory once again enshrined in the Halls of Honda Fame.

Intern-chan!
Oh man, that was funny, Waldo from Peoria.
To the OP, I'd choose the Fusion, based on looks. Let's see what this Accord looks like in person. The Optima still looks pretty sharp, but losing some luster with me; still far better than the weird Sonata hybrid.
My favorite hybrid: the one that burns tires and gas!

Aww, my fan section arrived. What kind of psycho are you, saving that quote? That quote was said in jest. Something tells me your use of it tonight is not.
Did you happen to pull your cranium from your rectum long enough to see that I wasn't even the first person to post that exact, link-less information? Are you going to whine to BachelorFrog, too, Whiner?
I was trying to give TOVers waiting for any Accord news a scoop. I was looking for a link, too. You leave out links out of habit, because that's the kind of tool you are.

Pardon me, but what the fuck did they do with the front of the Accord hybrid?

I was planning on buying an Accord plug-in hybrid, but not so much after seeing the front end. I feel ill. I've been buying Honda's since 1974, but I may switch now. The Ford plug-in may be the way I go. I like the styling a lot more than Honda's.

No contest Optima wins, It is not overstyled or understyled, just right from the front at least.
But I like Fisker.

I prefer the accord. My brother with a 3-series is considering trading it in for the phev.
I've always been a fan of the insight, fcx, and stream's design. The phev is kind of an evolution of those.
There are aspects of the phev that remind me of modulo's design language. It wouldn't be polarizing to some had they went with the ac-x design though.

BMW and Hinda must have some kind of relationship/partnership as the Hybrid Accord and ActiveHybrid 5's wheel designs are strikingly similar!

The Fusion pictured is the Energi, plug in hybrid and they're estimating in the range of 100 mpg. I would think the Accord PHEV would be in a similar range. So really as far as the cars depicted, they're in a separate category.
