In Japan.
The company is "working to develop an extremely small and fun sports car", said Honda CEO Takanobu Ito. He was speaking at an event marking 50 yrs of the Suzuka race track in Mie Prefecture.
HMC is developing a new roadster that draws on the 1990's heritage of its popular Beat two-seat roadster, its chief executive said Sept 2.

We already seen the concept(ev-ster)
and it just a little bigger than the Kei class

So there's the rumored Beat/Beat-type small sport(s)(y) car, confirmed. Was this from a Honda press release?
It's a move in the right direction. I hope. Trouble is all these thoughts rush into my head of how they can ruin it or leave it undercooked.
A little bigger than kei class, hmm. So it doesn't benefit from kei class, uh, benefits. Why would they do that? Looking to export it, too? Keep us posted on this one, RolledaNsx. I'd really like to hear more about what's going on behind that poll thread you started last week. Thanks for the info.

Have any of you ever sat in a Beat? It is physically impossible for two 6' tall men over 200 lbs to fit side-by-side without at least one of them hanging an arm out the window.
It would have to be substantially larger than the old Beat to have any chance at being sold in the States.
That said, one of the Beats I've driven had a Hayabusa engine, sequential transmission and limited slip. 160 whp in a sub 2000 lbs car of that size was pretty freakin cool. Not that I think we'd get that from Honda, but one can dream.

I'd bite on something CR-Z sized with no roof and an NSX/RLX type hybrid drivetrain.
Actually, I'd take two bites and ask for leftovers, especially if it looked as dynamite as that EV-ster concept did.

I drove the Beat years ago. No torque, slow, but fun as hell. The mid-engine & hi revving sound in the back of your seat makes you feel like you're in a Ferrari 458 Spider (I've never driven any Ferrari though). :)
The EV-ster concept looks great. 1.3L mid-engine RWD I think is enough for the car. It doesn't have to be like S2K or NSX.
