Well it would seem that Pedrosa has finally come of age in his MotoGP career. His battle with Lorenzo on that last lap showed great fight and spirit - and best of all they both gave their all and gave each other the respect one would expect.

I look forward to the rest of the season, and a grand stand finish. :)

Indeed, it was a nice race with a nice finish (Moto2 also shown quite brilliant racing btw). Let's hope Dani can keep it up 'til the end of the season.

PS: It was specially interesting when Dani went in front because it seemed for whatever reason he couldn't be consistent despite being faster. Fact is Lorenzo was doing his usual clock work laps at around 1:56:6's, while Dani was able to clock some fast 1:56.3's, get some space to breath, then would lose it with some much slower 1:56:9's. Obviously there was something in the bike he couldn't get totally confident with. I have the feeling if he hadn't crashed on saturday his first bike he could have run away doing 56:3's all race long.

Now going to Misano ...

actually that was his #1 bike, which had been repaired overnight. I think Pedrosa just struggles to be super consistant like Lorenzo, or he is having to work much harder to turn those times on the Honda?

Great result for Dani and Honda. I think the is the fastest bike on the grid pacewise but it simply gets troublesome while just a bit over the edge which is not the case with yamaha (?) That's why the problem with consistency. Too bad Casey cannot be there as I think we would have the last two grand prixs finishing with Honda 1-2 if both were in top shape, but things like that are simply part of that sport.
With just 13 points difference and 6 races to go the chances are still a bit in favour or Jorge Lorenzo as he leads the chart, but I think it is Dani that has a better machinery. If he can win next GP at Misano it going to be very very close but I guess it is quite a hard job as we have seen already this year.

i must admit my wording was rather misleading. Did not intend to say he was racing a different bike, simply that after crashing with it in qualifying he may have found something he was not comfortable with, be it with the repaired bike itself or within his brain i don't know, but Dani tends to be one of the most consistent riders around, which is how he has won most of his races(like Indy past week), and this time for whatever reason he was not. I was just speculating about his qualy crash being related to it.
To me it was weird because I've been watching him race since his earliest days, and I have no memory of having seen a similar race before. The only sharp rythm changes he tends to have is fading out at the end of the race because of either tiredness or tire wear, but had no memories of this kind of intermitency.

I still believe that Dani has the Honda and Yamaha has the Jorge...

if Jorge join the Honda we could see another Doohan and Rossi record breaker

I do wonder, and for sure it'd be the only reason why I would want Lorenzo to come to Honda. So far, after his rookie year there has been only one rider able to beat Dani on equal machinery, Stoner, and it seems that he is going to lose on his second year. I mean, sure Dani has been riding with one of the best bikes in one of the best teams for long without wining, but I also think that many people keep underestimating him outside the racetrack.

I mean, for sure Lorenzo is strong, but one could also say that the Yamaha perfectly fits his style, perhaps much better than the Honda ever could.

In any case, as Rossi said, MotoGP needs fights like these to keep going on, and I'm all for it regardless of which bikes they ride (obviously even better if the Honda guy takes the crown :P )

Dani seem to be hitting trouble almost regularly. I hope his year he is going to be without it.
When he joined Repsol Honda in 2006 no blamed him for not winning even though Honda produced the best bike back then and helped Nicky Hayden to win the title. It was his first season I think he even won more races then Nicky, but lacked the consistency with delivering results- points.
In 2007 no one could match Stoner/Ducati most powerful engine/BS best tires so no blame to Dani either. Then in next years Honda did not deliver a better bike or they were a bit worse even though not much. Also Dani hit trouble every year. The best chance Dani had then in 2010 when in the second half of the season he simply dominated but then again misfortune struck and here we arrived in 2011.....and no one can simply anticipate how the season would finish if Dani was able to be troubleless again. Casey dominated - no doubts but it seems that Dani is not so easy to beat as the superficial analysis of his achievements in MotoGP could suggest. In 2011 as a result of the crash Dani was not 100% fit and I think if he was he could have produce a challenge to Casey. Could he beat him. I don't know but I don't think so. However we cannot know this for sure. Even this year the beginning of the year ws definitely for Casey who unfortunately was the one who hit trouble this year. Really too bad...
I believe Dani Pedrosa is definitely a material for the championship if he only has a bit of luck on his side if we talk about the consequences of his crashes. He simply seems to break some bones when the others walk away unhurt.

Grandprix de Marcro Simoncelli.

No body posted results about the italian GP.

What an awful outcome. I am so gutted, but Danny's comments make me feel better... I really appreciated how fast he was slicing back through the field.

"It's was total chaos and many things happened at the same time. It all began with the restart because the procedure was not at all clear. Nobody knew if it was one minute, three minutes, warmers on or off… We were also getting different information about the number of laps, 26, 27… Then suddenly we were told it was 1 minute to the start of the race, with no board signage, nothing. The mechanics were rushing to prepare and when they tried to take off the warmers my front wheel was somehow locked, they tried to unlocked it but they weren't able to, and due to the 1 minute warning - where they are not allowed to touch the bike anymore - they put me to the back of the grid. I tried to remain focused, not make any mistake on the first lap, make clear moves to overtake riders and I was 8th or 9th by the sixth corner when Barberá hit me from behind, and that was it. I'm very upset because even though it's easy to say now, I think I could have had a chance to win this race, even starting from the last place on the grid. Now the Championship is obviously more uphill for me, but I will continue the same way. We have done everything we could so far, the bike is working well and I'm riding well, too. So it's not over for me; there are still 5 races to go and we will do our best."
