Picked up our new RDX this week from Kendall Acura in Eugene, Oregon..........great group of folks.

With my wife following me in her TSX as a chase car, we left Eugene and headed back to Hood River, about 170 miles.

Very pleased with the mileage. 27.0 MPG over 170 miles of Willamette Valley and Columbia Gorge freeway cruising at 68-72 MPH. This includes an hour of stop and go over a 5 mile stretch. My average before we hit the traffic backup was 28.4.

Took Mama for her first shake down certification run today. She is in love. The new RDX, has a super combination of attributes........Acura finally got it right!!

She let me drive back from the store and I couldn't resist just one short, irresponsible mashing of the throttle. Like our buddies from the South would say, "I'll tell you what now", this guy has some testicles!!!
I'm pretty familiar with cars that are zippy after owning a
356SC Porche, an Integra GSR, and an RSX.....but the combination of thrust and the incredible SOUND of the engine as it woke up when I stomp it at 25-30 MPH sent "tingles down my leg".
This may be Mama's car but I'm going to be offering to run errands more often.

Congrats on your RDX. I have had mine about 3 weeks now and am liking is so for. Dynamically it is different from my lease-returned 09 TSX, but that will take some getting used to. I love the power too, and have never owned a Honda/Acura vehicle with torque. :-)

On a short highway jaunt I approached but never reached the advertised highway fuel economy; had the trip been longer and with flatter stretches of road it probably would have.

The trouble is that in Oregon the cops are fascist ( like the two morons in Mustangs (one red, one white) around Woodburn on the I5 and the drivers generally slow).. so your freeway speeds are slow. When I go to the Puget Sound I tend to set the cruise control to 74 mph ( slow for us ) and count down the miles.

I find the run up and down the Villamette Valley the worst of the entire LA to Seattle trip. Such a beautifully straight freeway with long sight lines and the locals go side by side at 65 mph not thinking of pulling over and letting the faster traffic go by (at a blazing 70!!!!). Beautiful countryside, specially this time of the year... you didn't mention that the NW is still in bloom, huh? (May is best...).

Come on down to California, drive in our brown highways, buy your liquor here and break in the RDX with some proper 85 mph cruising (do slow down to 80 around Redding and Yreka). After that it's all 80+ down to Tijuana.

Or, when you get to Shasta, go East towards Reno. You'll love that road in the summer... with radar detector you should be able to cruise at 75~80 all the way. I5->CA89->US395.

On the way back US395->CA139 towards Klammath Falls and then inland up to The Dalles... Or if you driving up the I5, get off onto US97 from Weed to Klammath falls.

All beautiful high mountain drives in the summer... not really recommended in the winter, IMHO.

BTW, if you live in Hood River.. why did you go so far to get your Acura. Didn't your local dealers make you a good offer?

That appears to be somewhat darker than the Polished Metal mid-gray on Honda products, like our Crosstour. It's dark but not as harsh or "sudden" as black. Very nice.

Is that a black interior? We've stayed away from black because we live in Texas, but I do see a lot of cars with black leather out there so it can't be all bad in the summer.

Good looking car!

"Charley" was sold.

Hard to watch him drive away.

Buyer was from Seattle area, so I won't have to see "Charley"
dirty or dinged here locally.

I think we've all been there, watching a car we love drive away or driving away from a car we love. Even when you move on to something better they'll always be something you miss.
I sold my 98 Accord coupe to a friend of a friend who was tickled pink with my 10 year old well-cared for car. I drove off in my new V6 EX-L Accord sedan (a clear upgrade in power, space, features and refinement) but even now after 4 yrs, there are times I miss it.
Recently I'm growing concerned about my next Honda, don't need one for a few years out but when I'm ready it will likely come with electric steering and so far no matter the make (Honda, BMW, etc.) the reviews always mention the disconnected feeling of electric assisted steering.
