Well, I'm not sure exactly of what changed, but I've never seen such a high figure before.
- 782km or 585 miles
- 22.5km/L or 53mpg or 4.5L/100km
I've just crossed the 60,000km mark on the CR-Z, and I'm not sure I can say FE is getting better, but for sure it's not getting any worse.
Here is the basic trip I do about twice a month, which goes from the East coast of Japan to the west and back, across the Alps. I only check one way trips but as you can see both ends are at sea level so ..., by all practical FE effects this counts as a round trip to me :)
This time I set the cruise control at the legal maximum (101 kmph) when on the freeway, and added a night in between going to Nikko (see separate post on "Fit_vs_CR-Z FE comparison". The later though meant adding mountain roads, higher elevation, and more city into the mix, so I really wonder what kind of mileage I could have got if going straight on the motorway home as usual ...
Otherwise, A/C was ON in auto with the 3-mode switch in ECON for the whole trip.

Hmmm,
I was going to post this last week, but after getting my CRZ "software update" for the hill-assist gremlin I'm consistently getting 3-4 mpg advantages on my usual drives. I was quite surprised when last weekend I registered 46.7 mpg on my usual 112 mile drive to the beach as I usually average 40-41 mpg. This was in sport mode with AC.

Yeah, our little Honda must be one of the most severely FE under-rated ones of all times !
(tend to think also "performance-wise under-rated but... that can't be put in numbers so :) :) :) )

In the short period I had mine I averaged 46mpg over 1000 miles driving pretty normally in purely sport mode.

I'm getting like 17 mpg in my new '12 Si.. this is driving very short distances (3 miles one way), dealing with a bunch of moronic lights on the UCI campus (*) and short shifting the whole way.
The Civic Hybrid is actually more fun to drive on that route.
(*) Leave to academics and public employees not only to wreck the economy but also to wreck the traffic flow. Where a normal four way stop would work, they put a full blown light set up with protected left turns... every fricking 200 yards!!!! Now you know why California is going broke and why I'm getting such crappy mileage.
Oh well... I just miss those days....

If memory serves you live in the UK, I guess therefore that your 46mpg are Imperial gallons; am I wrong?
Personally, I find 46 US mpg in purely sport mode more impressive than my 53mpg using ECON... (assuming you were driving accordingly). Just in case, my 53 mpg are US gallons, i.e. 63.6 UK mpg ...
