CR-V set a new June sales record and extends its sales record streak to six months. That's obviously the good news.
However, the new kid in town is making quite a first impression. Ford sold 28,500 units of the new Escape, beating CR-V by over 5000 units despite CR-V's record sales. Unless the Escape's sales rate dwindles some when the novelty wears off, the CR-V might have met its match.

Found the perfect article for this thread:
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20120706/AUTO0102/207060344/1148/auto01/Redesigned-Ford-Escape-runaway-success
The article includes this line:
The Dearborn automaker sold about 11,000 new Escapes in June, comprising about 40 percent of the company's 28,500 total Escape sales as dealers clear out 2012 models.
Looking at Cars.com (a less than 100% accurate source, there are still over 12k old Escapes out there and fewer than 3400 new ones.
So if you ask me, the Escape is in for a trouncing this coming month unless there are tons of 2013 that are not reported sitting on dealer lots. You can't hit 28500 this month with not even 15k on the lots.

Ford can't keep up 28500. Just read Escape production moved to Louisville for the 2013 Escape and it's a revamped facility running on 2 out of 3 possible shifts. With 3 shifts (expected later this year) it can churn out 300,000 Escapes or 25000/month.
