Anyone else think 16gals is a little small? Personally this is the only drawback I have with the RDX.

I agree, maybe it's to increase fuel economy? I'd rather have a larger tank and not have to fill up so often.

that should be good for well over 400miles on a road trip and a good 350+ of "everyday" driving. Is that not good enough?

I guess if you run it dry that would be the case. By my calcs a mix of 23mpg you have about a 280mi range in mixed driving before the fuel light comes on. I know it is trivial and not something that would keep me from buying but it sure would be nice to have a 18.5 gal tank. (like the TL, TSX, Accord etc...)
For Reference:
RX350 19.2
X3 17.7
EX 20.0

I doubt the fuel light would come on when there's still a 1/4 tank left - probably more like 2-3 gallons, so the "fuel light range" is probably more like 300-320 miles.

Wow that is rather small.
My '03 Accord has a 17.1 tank and with around the same mixed mpg with the RDX we get 310-330 miles between fillups.
I guess it has to do with packaging. The '12 CRV fuel tank is 15.3gal, so Acura probably squeezed a bit more out of the same space to get 16gal but couldn't do more.

There's a bit of a psychological problem too - smaller tanks mean more trips to gas stations....and an amazing number of people seem to equate this to fuel economy....

I beg to differ, the reverse may also take place: at the pump you see the meter stop no higher than $50 something (USD, 14 gal fillup).
A 20 gal tank would result in the meter going over $70 (18 gal) which psychologically is quite a shock.

That's true too. More of a shock - but less often....of course it may hold more than that - I got 52 litres in a Civic on saturday - the manual says 50...must have been running on fumes.

Considering that RDX gets quite a bit better gas mileage, I think it is not as bad as you think.
Using combined EPA mpg and a reserve fuel of 2 gal. in tank, I est. the difference in the mileage per tank from RDX' s (AWD) and RX350 AWD, X3 x28i, EX35 is less than 10% (or roughly 30 miles).
