Has anyone had any luck finding Mobil 1 0W20, either on-line or in a store? Yes, I know Mobil 1 5W30 is out, but that's not what I want. Also, is the filter the same for the a 02 3.0l V6 & a 03 3.0l V6? It seems that the 03's aren't in AutoZone's computer yet for Mobil 1 filters.

TIA

I haven't "found" it at a store, but I have had it put in my car at the local dealership. I've noticed a 5 to 10% mileage improvement over the 5w30.

You can get it at http://store.yahoo.com/rodi/oil44877.html
It is kinda pricey though. It should be hitting stores in a month or two.

Also, go to your local Mobil 1 gas station and ask them to order it for you. They should charge you the standard rate that they would sell it without markup because they order their regular oils from Mobil through the same channels. That is exactly what my local gas station owner told me.

Yes and Yes. 0W-20 is recommended for Hondas and Fords. Go figure.

Yes, Mobil One discontinued 0w20, in favor of Mobil One 5w20. :( :) Before they discontinued it, my research indicated that 0W20 probably would get better fuel mileage than OEM Honda 5w20 and EM Superflo 5w20 (both made to Honda and Ford specs by EM)Both are absolutely EXCELLENT conventional oils. So I bought 80,000 miles worth on sale at 3.99 per qt. At 10,000 miles I changed the oem factory fill 5w20 and got 35- just breaking 40 mpg. During a daily normal commute we got 36 mpg. With the OW20 we got 39 mpg. So indeed 0W20 yields 8% per fuel mileage. Will see if 39 mppg is the new baseline.

Hi All:

___This is why you would want to use Mobil1 0W-20:

Kinematic Viscosity of Mobil1 SAE 0W-20 (ASTM D-445)
cSt @ 40 degrees C = 43.0
cSt @ 100 degrees C = 8.4

___This is a hypermiler’s liquid gold and we wouldn’t leave home without it ;-)

___Finding it now is almost impossible given it is discontinued although I did find 71 quarts across 3 Pep Boys and stocked up for my own use over the next 5 years 3 or 4 months ago. The latest Penzoil 0W-20 Hybrid synthetic oil has similar kinematic viscosity specs as a substitute …

___Good Luck

I've heard that Mobil 1 has discontinued the 0w20 label due to confusion over it in the marketplace. So the 5w20 has taken it's place, and is essentially the same thing. I think that if you look at the 0w20 label it says it is reccomended for all motors that use 5w20. So simply changing the label to say 5w20 will bring the synthetics into line with the standard dino oil weights, and hopefully alleviate some confusion consumers were having.

Hi Sintax_Era:

___Although similar, Mobil1 0W-20 and Mobil1 5W-20 are not the same :( At a steady and warmed up temp, 5W-20 is actually better for higher FE but it’s the 5W part that rears it ugly head for those first 5 - 10 minutes :( Pour points for the 5W is higher then that of the 0W as it should be.

Kinematic Viscosity of Mobil1 SAE 0W-20 (ASTM D-445)
cSt @ 40 degrees C = 43.0
cSt @ 100 degrees C = 8.4

Kinematic Viscosity of Mobil1 SAE 5W-20 (ASTM D-445)
cSt @ 40 degrees C = 47.0
cSt @ 100 degrees C = 8.3

___Here is the specs on the new Pennzoil hybrid oil … Well the only specs I care about anyway ;-)

Kinematic Viscosity of Pennzoil SAE 0W-20 (ASTM D-445)
cSt @ 40 degrees C = 46.5
cSt @ 100 degrees C = 8.7

Went to Mobil website and found 0W-30 but no 0W-20 listed. This was the traditional Mobil One not the new Extended Performance version.

I had read on an Amsoil comparision chart of different synthetic oils that the Mobil 1 0w30 weight oil provided less wear protection than other Mobil 1 weights and (of course) especially Amsoil synthetics.
It could have just been Amsoil propaganda but, you might want to contact Mobil and see if someone will tell you why. Good luck.

To ensure we are thinking the same thoughts: You really want 0W-20? I ask because the recommendation in the pre-2004 owner's manual (and it's also molded into the oil filler cap) is 5 w-30. The recommended weight for the newer Accords is 5w-20 (which itself is pretty thin stuff).

If you are seeking 0W-20, it will be difficult to find now. Mobil removed it from the U.S. market approximately a year ago. I'm going to guess it's no longer being marketed here because there was so little demand for it.

I am seeking 0W20 but I did call Mobil today 11/21/05 he told me they did pull it because of a low demand, I own a Hybrid so I have to have it, however the oil Honda sells as Honda oil is Mobil 1, also he said that in 2006 by March they would bring it back out on the market.

I found the oil on mobil's website. It doesn't say it is discontinued and in fact a couple of weeks ago i purchased 6 quarts of it and changed the oil in my car. I don't know if I still can since it was the last box they had. In a few weeks I'm going to get some more for my wife's car when she get 7500 miles on her oil.

As folks have mentioned Mobil One 0w20 is discontinued. However when you can find it , it is still on the market till it runs out of stock. You might want to research the Mobil One web site and indeed the 5w20 specs are REAL CLOSE to the old 0w20.

The new filter designation is Honda P/N 15400-PLM-A01. This is crossed referenced on the aftermarket with # 7317
