I'm not sure but I believe that's a new Acura Concept Tony has in the upcoming Avengers Movie. We already know SHIELD uses Acuras.

Now, THAT is a Power Plenum I like. ;-)
I wonder is this is based on something we might see on the street? When is this movie supposed to be on theaters?

As you may know, Acura has been in the Marvel Comics Universe films as the official car of their fictional law enforcement agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. That relationship continues for The Avengers.
The open-top sports car that was photographed yesterday is a one-off, fictional car that was made just for the movie and will not be produced.

This is very good. It shows that, after years of stupidity and self-sabotage, HondAcura may be realising the importance of halo cars.

I cannot quite tell from those angles.
The design looks very close indeed to the GT5000 with the roof sliced off and some new rear lights and the fronts filled in with polyester jam.
Yet the proportions are different enough to suggest something closer to a mid-engined layout.
Whatever; announcing something genuinely new with film publicity is something they desperately (no exaggeration) need right now. Well; very soon, at least.

Definitely ME and a much more developed evolution of the corporate style. And of the lovely old NSX...

HOT!
We can only hope that in the cloakrooms and dark halls of Acura that this type of work continues to go on and some variant makes it to production.
While it isn't an Audi, it does have the stance of an R8 (that's a compliment).

BTW this is worthy of the "rumors and news" page! So what if it's a one-off, they still had to put the time into making it and it may suggest other things going on within Acura!

Well, at least their concepts are becoming more attractive. Maybe it's a sign of their new design language? Can't help but be annoyed at this building trend of all-show (and/or talk), no go (to production) though.
Like the new plenum MUCH better btw.

I've been gone all day. That Avengers thing, whatever it is, is a GORGEOUS looking car, but I don't think it's anything close to the "GT5000". One thing I didn't care for about the "GT5000" mules we saw was how "jacked up" it looked. Just too tall for a proper exotic. THIS avengers car looks like a proper exotic. From the front, it's got that cinematic 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The "GT5000" is 4:3 SDTV.
I think the rear styling could be cleaned up quite a bit, however.

I agree on all counts...this HAS to be mid-engined, it has that low, slinky, sexy look of something mid-engined...
That power plenum still needs a little work (i see a bit of the '12 Civic Si coupe in the divided grille!), but overall it's been quite a while since I've seen such a lovely concept from Honda/Acura.
Whatever this car is or isn't (but hoping against hope it is what I hope it is), they better put it on the show circuit toute suite to jumpstart Acura.

I got pretty much the same response - I sent texts to both GR and CS. CS responded:
Jeff,
As you may know, Acura has been in the Marvel Comics Universe films as the official car of their fictional law enforcement agency called S.H.I.E.L.D.
That relationship continues for The Avengers, the next film in the series.
The open-top sports car that was photographed yesterday is a one-off, fictional car that Acura created just for The Avengers movie and is not planned for production.
Also, we're unable to provide specifics about the use of the car in the film. We won't know the full extent of the car's appearance in The Avengers until the film's release next year.

What I find most interesting as I look at these photos is that the sheet metal appears to be very "production ready". Especially things like the hood and fenders and doors. There are some add-ons that appeared to be body kits like those they take to a car show when they want to mask (at show) a thinly veiled prototype.
I agree that this could be an old prototype that has been recycled for use in the movies. They did it before with the CL-X concept that appeared in a Janet Jackson music video. However, considering all of the little hints they been dropping over the last several months (including in this press release), it might be something they've been working on as that "little surprise"

Holy mofo! I almost had a heart attack! Thought this was a real deal... That is bleeding edge exotic if it were real, even with all the toning down and production parts. Honda, screw you! Please for the love of God or Xenu, don't tease your fans like this. Just have Tony Stark character drives a TL that can fly. Nobody would expect a real car that flies, but showing a super car which in real life it's on again off again on again is just too cruel!

still pretty exciting though, I almost spit out my tea when I saw it with RDJr leaning back looking out of a convertible acura super sports car. I thought, FINALLY, they are making it, and in the place of the R8 also!
I have no doubts it was at least partially a recycled concept. At least we know they're still thinking about it :D

With regards to Q3 and its answer, I wonder if some of the scepticsm could be that the recent confirmed news, that Ito has ordered the Honda HSV super-car to be developed to market has been forgotten. This is the HSV super car that is currently being raced in Super GT and Ito has ordered for it to be developed for production. This I can confirm is true. When and what it is the current status, I am afraid my source is no longer willing to talk to me about it.

Yeah, but it gets a ULEV status and better MPG!
That said, the styling proportions are pretty decent, minus the Marvel Comic makeup required for such a movie.
Hopefully, Honda will actually take us back to the spirit of the old NSX. Something light, small, mid-engined and that moves the bar forward quite a bit.

What is interesting to me is how the car will be used in the movie. Most product placement spot has the product being used in magnificent vista with plenty of perfect camera angle and cinematography. Case in point, the Iron Man scene where the Audi R8 is being driven on the sea shore (forgot the exact scene), or Lamborghini Murcielago drive scene in Batman Dark Knight. I'm hoping that this car is actually a hacked job from the real HSV/ASCC, V10 and all, so during the driving scene we can hear the sound that never will be.
Hell... I will watch the premiere of The Avengers just to see the car in action.
