Comptech 210-060 Stainless Steel 4-2-1 Header

Introduction

Stock vs. DC Sports vs. Comptech
Earlier this spring, we installed and tested DC Sports 2-piece 4-2-1 ceramic coated headers on our Project TSX. We were pretty pleased with the results, but we were also curious how other designs might perform. So we contacted Comptech and requested a unit for evaluation, and they kindly obliged.

Design Impressions

On paper, the Comptech headers are an appealing option. Featuring stainless steel construction throughout, TIG welded joints, a one-piece design, and a reasonable price, they seem to be hard to beat. And when we received our own test set, I was not disappointed at all. A quick visual inspection of these headers shows build quality that approaches the likes of Mugen's stainless work. The welds are smooth and consistent, which furthers the overall sense of quality.

Installation

While I was surprised at how easy it was to install the DC Sports headers on our TSX, the installation of the Comptech headers was even easier, thanks to its one-piece construction. I was a little worried that it might be difficult to position the Comptech headers into place, but there was no reason to worry at all. Everything fit perfectly the first time and the job went without a hitch. I had no problem getting them installed in less than an hour, including the time spent putting the car on jack stands. The instructions included in the box are all you need to get the header installed, but if you feel like reading more on that, you'll probably want to check out the next page. Otherwise, you can skip to the dyno results on the third page of this article.
