Conclusion

Conclusion:

One of the nicer features of this bar is its low cost in comparison to other swaybars of the same diameter (notably Comptech and Progress). Other aftermarket bars generally include a lower tie brace that connects the swaybar bushing mounts, although I'm not sure how much these brackets actually help to stiffen the chassis given that the RSX Type-S already includes a factory lower tie bar.

Initial impressions of this bar are quite favorable. Ride quality appears to be unchanged. Even with the relatively soft sidewalls of the stock Michelin tires, turn in response is noticeably improved. When the tires begin to lose grip, all of them begin to slide, rather than just understeering (fronts pushing wide). The back end also feel stiffer and more solid in corners. I am able to take a few "test" on-ramps several MPH faster than before and the car is quite neutral. It is also a bit easier to rotate the car.

I had a chance to (finally) take my car to an autocross this weekend (11/16/2002) and try out the bar in a competition situation on my race tires. All I can say is "Wow!" This bar really balances out the car, making it easy to adjust the position of the rear end via the throttle. Assuming tire pressures are correct, the car rotates very nicely and can be made to step out by lifting throttle (and even more by tapping the brakes), or holds firmly under acceleration. The car is now much more driveable in such a situation.

In short, I have to completely recommend this piece. It makes the car faster in a competition situation and overall more fun to drive under street conditions.
