GAB Review

Details

  • 4 way adjustable shocks
  • adjustable from hood and hatch back with screwdriver (included)
  • bright red color
  • tube is larger diameter than stock
  • pricey - price has risen $30 per shock due to the rising Japanese yen

These comments are based upon the GAB shocks run with the stock springs and worn XGTV-4 tires on my '94 GS-R three door:
The softest setting at one gives a very, very smooth ride. The stock ride gave me a very good idea of what kind of surface I was riding over but the one setting shielded me from that. This setting is the one to use for steady highway cruising.

Setting the shocks to 2's on all fours gave the car a noticeable "feel" to the road. Ride was just a little stiffer than shock in the compression side and maybe a little firmer on rebound because the overall ride was still better than stock in that it controlled undulations better.

On 3's at all fours, the car exhibited very good turn in response. Ride is starting to become rough on bad roads. I can feel all the irregularities in the road.

The stiffest setting of four almost made me sick to my stomach after an extended test. The car followed every undulation of the road. Turn in response was excellent. Quick transitions were kept in check. There was the normal amount of lean on long hard curves only. Since the Integra is a naturally understeering car with the stock rear anti-sway bar, in autocrosses, I usually set the fronts to a setting of 1-2, and the rear to the stiffest at 4. This makes the car a very neutral to slightly oversteering car. I can then use the throttle to simply tuck the tail back in.
